Overview

Torbjörn, a Swedish engineer, possesses an extraordinary ability to develop and upgrade formidable turrets that can shield locations and assail foes, with a specialization in weapon creation and construction.

In the game’s lore, Torbjörn played a crucial role in the Omnic Crisis, a time of conflict in which androids, also known as Omnics, revolted against humankind. Torbjörn’s weapon designs aided in the turning of the tide of the war, resulting in his being lauded as a hero.

After the war, Torbjörn became disenchanted with the Overwatch organization and its head, Jack Morrison (also identified as Soldier: 76), opining that their actions were more focused on appearances and public relations than on making a genuine impact on the world. As a result, he withdrew from Overwatch and returned to his homeland of Sweden, where he continued to work on his inventions and help his community.
